BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans issue 'totally off' complaint as Eddie Kadi scores first 10 of the series

Eddie Kadi and his professional partner Karen Hauer have scored the first 10 of the Strictly Come Dancing series with their couples choice performance.

The pair performed a Men In Black inspired street dance, which Eddie, 40, dedicated to his family who migrated from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The comedian said he had a “whole other level of respect for street dance” following the routine.

Judge Shirley Ballas, who awarded the first 10, said: “When you do something well, it needs rewarding. This was slick, it had style, it was edgy, it was entertaining, you found your groove.

“Everything that you love in dance you were able to bring today as a partnership, I absolutely loved it.”

Despite scoring a 10, Eddie didn't come out on top overall during Saturday's live show. Angela Scanlon and pro partner Carlos Gu climbed to the top the leader board, with a score of 35 out of a possible 40 for their Charleston from the film Damn Yankees. Judge Anton Du Beke hailed it 'the dance of the series so far.'

Not everyone agreed that Eddie's dance deserved to be awarded the maximum score from Shirley. Taking to Twitter, viewers of the BBC dance contest shared their complaints.

@sianrodgers said: "No disrespect to Eddie but I really didn't have him as the first 10 of the series, especially when there were better dances tonight and last week #strictly" while @rubyeyelashes agreed: "I enjoyed tonight but didn’t feel Eddie’s dance was ten worthy - my votes went to Angela & Carlos, Amanda & Giovanni and Layton & Nikita".

@AnthonyDearie reckoned: "...As much as I like Eddie, it was definitely ‘too early, for a ten from Shirley’!
