Stretch of main road in Manchester city centre shut amid 'police incident'

A stretch of a main road in Manchester city centre is reportedly shut this afternoon due to a 'police incident'.

According to Stagecoach, part of Great Ancoats Street is blocked. Buses and traffic are being diverted away from the area.

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed. In a post on X, formerly know as Twitter, Stagecoach said: "Routes 216/230/231. Diversion heading towards #Manchester only via Great Ancoats Street, Adair Street, Fairfield Street and Aytoun Street.
