'Strange' Celtic crisis factor gives Paul Lambert the giggles as he can't help but LAUGH at fan hysteria

Paul Lambert can't help but chuckle watching some Celtic fans turn on Brendan Rodgers - because he KNOWS they'll be proven wrong.

The Irishman is coming under pressure at Parkhead after a recent plateau in form has let Rangers back into the title race. There's been a feeling of regression since the days of all-out dominance under Ange Postecoglou with a perceived scattergun approach to recruitment and patchy signing hit-rate not helping matters.

But Rodgers has been here and done it all before and Lambert is certain he'll turn it round. So much so he's laughing in the face of those calling it a crisis. He told The Football Faithful: “At Celtic, when you lose, even if you draw a game people want to hound you because that’s the pressure that comes. I think he’s handled everything up there, he’s done it before and he’ll do it again. This is a team that’s sitting top of the league up there.

"It’s strange. It makes me laugh because I know how it works up there, I played there for nine years. You’re only one bad pass away from a crisis and if you can’t handle the heat then it’s not a gig for you. Brendan will have absolutely no problem up there.”

Rodgers' poor record in Europe has compounded much of the criticism after they bowed out of another Champions League campaign without threatening the top two places. When asked if that was part of the reason he's under, pressure, Lambert said: “The bottom line is they haven’t got the same finances as a lot of teams. Can they probably compete better with teams on a similar budget? Yeah, probably.
