Storm Debi LIVE: Amber weather warning issued as strong winds and rain to batter northern England
Weather warnings have been issued for parts of the country - including in Greater Manchester - as Storm Debi hits the UK. An amber alert of wind is in place for parts of north-west England from 10am until 4pm on Monday - covering coastal areas from Liverpool up to Whitehaven. The Met Office has warned of potential flying debris and damage to buildings.
The Met Office also warned that roads and bridges may close, causing longer journey times. Public transport cancellations are possible, affecting road, rail, air and ferry services.
A yellow warning of wind is also in place for Greater Manchester - covering most of the north of England, midlands and north Wales - until 6pm tonight.

Chief meteorologist Matthew Lehnert said: "Storm Debi has developed rapidly overnight and will bring impacts across parts of the UK today."
He added: "Because of the particular risk of impacts to parts of County Armagh and County Down this morning and parts of northwest England through much of the day we have issued two amber wind warnings."
On Sunday National Highways issued a warning to motorists over strong winds forecast for drivers using motorways including the M6 and M62.

A yellow warning for wind, the lowest level of alert, will be in place from 4am until 6pm for areas including Bangor and St Davids in Wales and Greater Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool.
Aberdeenshire in Scotland will have a yellow warning for rain from 10am until 9pm.
