Suella Braverman sacked from role as new Home Secretary is appointed and David Cameron gets shock cabinet job - latest updates

Suella Braverman has been sacked from her role as home secretary as part of a Cabinet reshuffle.

Pressure was mounting on Rishi Sunak after Ms Braverman was accused of stoking tensions ahead of Armistice Day protests, with calls for the Prime Minister to sack her. A No 10 source said Mr Sunak 'asked Suella Braverman to leave Government and she has accepted'.

Following Ms Braverman's sacking, it was announced that David Cameron would make a dramatic return to Government as Foreign Secretary. The former prime minister will replace James Cleverly as Foreign Secretary and will be given a peerage.

Mr Cleverly will take on the role Home Secretary after Mr Sunak ended Mrs Braverman’s controversial tenure in the job. Ms Braverman was under increased pressure after writing an unauthorised article in the Times, published on Thursday.

She criticised what she called 'pro-Palestinian mobs' and slammed the Met Police for a 'double standard' over their handling of protests. She also said the homelessness is a 'lifestyle choice'.
