Stones and Kovacic return - Man City predicted XI vs RB Leipzig in Champions League

Manchester City return to the Champions League on Tuesday night when they host RB Leipzig in their penultimate group stage encounter.

The Blues will be hoping to shake off any hangover from Saturday's draw against Liverpool as they attempt to secure the top qualification spot. City and Leipzig have already qualified for the knockout stages which affords Pep Guardiola some room to rotate if he wishes.

But top spot in Group G is up for grabs and ahead of the game, MEN Sport has taken a stab at predicting how City will line-up.

Goalkeeper - Ederson

Guardiola could easily choose to start Stefan Ortega against Leipzig but he may want to give Ederson some more minutes after his injury during the international break.

Defenders - Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji, Josko Gvardiol

Against his old club it seems likely Gvardiol will be recalled to the starting line-up. With Nathan Ake another player coming back from a recent knock, a safe move would be to drop Akanji back into the defensive three alongside Walker. Rico Lewis will be battling hard for a start too.

Midfielders - John Stones, Mateo Kovacic

City were boosted by the surprise appearance of Stones at the weekend and it would be great to see him get a run out. Kovacic also returned to training on Monday and, if fit, is a good option to come in and allow Rodri a much-deserved rest.

Forwards - Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland
