Stirling Albion boss faces mounting injury list ahead of vital Alloa derby
It’s a derby day with extra importance on the line as Stirling aim to put down a marker for their League One campaign as Alloa make their first visit to Forthbank.
The home side come into the game off a run of one win in seven games, threatening to derail a positive start to the season which had Binos fans dreaming of a play-off finish.
Last weekend’s heart-breaking late loss at Kelty pushed the Binos down to fifth in the League One table, but only three points ahead of the rival Wasps down in eighth place.
It will be a case of two sides’ weaknesses coming against each other tomorrow – with Stirling the division’s lowest scorers having netted just nine times, but Alloa have already let in 20 goals themselves in 11 games.
Stirling also have the benefit of positive memories in this fixture so far this year having won both of the matches between the sides in 2023.
Dale Carrick has been the hero in both matches, with the striker netting a late winner in the League Cup group stages after Paul McLean’s early goal had been pegged back.
In the league, the ex-Hearts forward also came up trumps, being brought down for a penalty ten minutes from time before stepping up to rifle the spot kick into the net in front of the delighted Binos support.
Alloa also come into the game off a defeat having been comfortably beaten 3-0 by Falkirk last time out.
