Steven Gerrard salutes 5 Rangers stars as departing cast earn loving acknowledgement from former boss

Steven Gerrard has tipped his hat to the five Rangers stars departing Ibrox at the end of this season.

Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Filip Helander all worked under the Liverpool legend during his time as manager and they helped him claim Premiership glory in 2021. Gerrard's assistant from that era, Michael Beale, is now the man in the dugout and has opted to go with a fresh approach ahead of rebuild time this summer.

But there was still a moment for sentiment on Wednesday during a 2-2 draw with Hearts, as all five of the men in the Ibrox departure lounge got to say goodbye. And now former boss Gerrard has acknowledged their upcoming exits with a love heart posted to his Instagram story, accompanied of a photo of all five of his previous players. Rangers' final game of the season is this Saturday against St Mirren.

It's a dead-rubber match now in terms of league placement, with the Light Blues finishing second and the Buddies' hunt for Europe over. Attentions now turn to a big summer overhaul of the Ibrox squad, with Kieran Dowell announced as the first new signing.
