Leon King kicks on from Rangers run-in as Steve Clarke calls up defenders for Scotland Euro 2024 training camp in Spain

Rangers kid Leon King has been called up to train with Scotland’s full squad by gaffer Steve Clarke.

MailSport understands the 19-year-old centre-back will fly out to Spain today for their camp ahead of crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers against Norway and Georgia. King has already been named in Scot Gemmill’s Under-21s for a friendly double-header with Norway’s kids on June 15 and 18. But the Ibrox youngster has the chance to impress Clarke this week with an A squad training stint in La Finca.

King will join the likes of Jack Hendry, Ryan Porteous, Liam Cooper, Kieran Tierney and his Gers team-mate John Souttar in the squad. The teenager made 23 appearances for his club this season, including six games in the Champions League where he faced Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax. He started each of Rangers’ last three Premiership games against Hibs, Hearts and St Mirren and is highly rated by gaffer Michael Beale.

King has represented Scotland at Under-16, 17 and 21 level but now has an opportunity to test himself in Clarke’s full squad before they go to Oslo in a fortnight.
