Steven Gerrard fires Celtic transfer tease jibe at Ettifaq as loaded Rangers quip hits Dembele and Hendry

Steven Gerrard showed exactly what he thought of Ettifaq's Celtic-themed double signing with a Rangers slogan deployed as his response.

The former Ibrox boss has been tempted to the middle-east as the Saudi Pro League offer big cash to try and get some of Europe's big names to bolster their domestic top flight. Gerrard has been handed funds to strengthen The Commandos, and it is two former Celtic men in Moussa Dembele and Jack Hendry who have been officially confirmed.

In their unveiling, the club's social media teased a photo of a shamrock and picture of Parkhead alongside a caption that read 'What's better than one Bhoy? The Bhoys x2.' And Gerrard was quick on the scene via Instagram, reminding his new club on where his loyalties clearly lie in Glasgow, calling upon a Rangers slogan to reply to his employers with 'we are the people' alongside a winking face and blue heart.

Dembele is well-thought of in the Celtic fanbase, having scored 51 goals in a two-year spell at Parkhead before leaving for Lyon. Hendry meanwhile joined in 2018 but left in 2021, having gone out on loan to Melbourne City and Oostend.

Both former Hoops players will be joined by Jordan Henderson in the middle-east. The Liverpool captain has sent a goodbye message to Anfield fans ahead of his impending move to link up with Gerrard.
