Steve Clarke contemplating Scotland striker options as he makes 'like for like' Lyndon Dykes admission

Steve Clarke admits he is yet to decide whether he will draft in a striker to replace the injured Lyndon Dykesahead of the Euros.

The Queens Park Rangers' frontman has seen his hopes of representing Scotland at another major tournament crushed in agonising circumstances after having to be stretchered off during a training session at Lesser Hampden on Friday. On Saturday afternoon, the SFA then confirmed that seriousness of the ankle problem has meant that Dykes will be out for the duration of the tournament, leaving national team boss Clarke with just two recognised strikers - Che Adams and Lawrence Shankland - in the provisional squad selected for the finals.

Tartan Army fans have speculated that the likes of Bristol City's Tommy Conway or Sunderland's Ross Stewart could be called into the squad in Dyke's absence, but Clarke has revealed that he will give himself more time to come to a final decision. Speaking to the media ahead of Monday's warm-up friendly away to Gibraltar, he said: "I've given myself two or three days just to think about it," Clarke said of replacing Dykes.

"There is no like for like replacement for Lyndon because he brings his own qualities. I don't really believe in like for like. Lyndon brings his qualities. Obviously, we haven't got them.

"I'll have a little look around, I'll decide what to do with the squad and we'll go from there."
