SFA plan to DOUBLE board members pay as they ask clubs to green light cash bump

The Scottish FA have asked clubs to give the thumbs up to DOUBLING the salaries of key board members.

The governing body's AGM will take place on Thursday June 6 at Hampden and clubs are reportedly surprised by a proposal to boost the pay packets of president Mike Mulraney and vice president Les Gray. Mulraney would see his annual wage jump from £25,000 to £50k, while Gray's would more than double, from £15k to £35k.

Further to those rises, non-executive directors Alison McGregor and Malcolm Kpedekpo would receive pay bumps to £30k per year, according to the Daily Mail. It's a move designed to bring financial packages in line with "industry norms." Clubs will be asked to mull over the proposal before approving the recommendations at Thursday's meeting, although that is far from guaranteed, with some said to be concerned with optics of such hefty increased during a cost of living crisis.

Board members are apparently arguing in private that the current salaries based on the time commitment of their roles restricts those who can stand to be elected to those who are either well off or are already retired.
