Sporting Lisbon 0-5 Man City highlights and reaction as Blues run riot in Champions League
Manchester City ran riot in Lisbon against Sporting to take a fine 5-0 lead back to the Etihad in the Champions League last-16 first leg.
City were without three key players as Kyle Walker is suspended, while Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus did not travel due to injury. Zack Steffen was also missing from the travelling squad, along with the injured Cole Palmer. Youngsters Ciaran Slicker, Luke Mbete, Romeo Lavia, James McAtee, Kayky and Liam Delap were part of a 22-man squad taken to Portugal.
With Walker suspended, Joao Cancelo started, but on the left with John Stones in the starting line up from right-back.
City took an early lead through Riyad Mahrez's close-range finish, given after a VAR check for offside, before a sensational Bernardo Silva half-volley made it two. Phil Foden tapped in cleverly for three, and Bernardo added a fourth before half time. Bernardo thought he had a hat-trick, but saw his header ruled out for offside, before a sublime curling effort from Raheem Sterling made it five ahead of the second leg back in Manchester.
