SPFL address Rangers bottle incidents against Celtic as they urge supporters to contact police
The SPFL are appealing for supporters to contact police after the dangerous incidents at Ibrox that saw bottles thrown onto the pitch during Rangers ' defeat to Celtic.
The start of the second half was delayed by three minutes after keeper Joe Hart informed referee Willie Collum and his manager Ange Postecoglou that shards of broken glass had been hurled from the Rangers end.
A member of Celtic staff also required stitches for a "head wound" inflicted in a separate incident.
Both Postecoglou and Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst condemned the scenes and it later emerged that Police Scotland were investigating.
And now the SPFL await the match delegate's report after the unsavoury incidents blighted Scottish football's marquee fixture.
An SPFL spokesman said: “We await the match delegate’s report, and we would urge any fans with information about these incidents to contact the police.”
Celtic ultimately won the game 2-1 as they moved six points clear at the top of the Premiership.
Their manager Postecoglou said of the incidents: “It is disappointing because this is a game that gets beamed around the world and it stands on its own.
"You had two teams going at it in first and second spot and you don’t need a couple of idiots spoiling it.”
