3 Mark Warburton replacements QPR should consider if he is sacked by the board

Queens Park Rangers could be set to sack manager Mark Warburton, with the 59-year-old on the brink of losing his job following a 2-0 loss to Fulham this past weekend.

Per The Telegraph, Warburton’s position is under ‘growing threat’, with internal meetings held regarding his future before the international break when the R’s lost to relegation-threatened Peterborough United.

After being in and around the automatic promotion race for a lot of the season, the Hoops have dropped to ninth in the table – they still have a live chance of finishing in the play-offs but they have only picked up seven points out of a possible 30.

Who should the QPR hierarchy look towards though should they make the decision to part company with Warburton? Let’s take a look at three potential options.

Daniel Farke

A two-time promotion winner from the Championship with Norwich, Farke knows what it takes to get out of the division.

After his sacking by the Canaries earlier this season, the German headed to Krasnodar of Russia but did not take charge of a game before departing, meaning that he’s free to manage elsewhere.

Having already been linked with Stoke City, there’s a chance that Farke will look to head back to the Championship and with some talented players at Loftus Road, there’s a nucleus of a squad to work with and develop to get the club back to the top flight.

Slaven Bilic

Another man who is no stranger to winning Championship promotion, Bilic is out of work after a stint in China with Beijing Guoan.

His last spell in the UK though was with West Brom, who he took back to the top flight before being perhaps harshly sacked in December 2020 despite just gaining a draw against would-be champions Manchester City.
