Southampton already have the blueprint to beat Liverpool FC and hand Man City the title

"I would say, 'beat Liverpool 4-0'," Pep Guardiola said when asked if he had a message for Southampton. The Manchester City manager was of course joking, but it's a sentiment shared by all City fans - if the Saints beat Liverpool on Tuesday evening, City will be crowned Premier League champions.

It would be nice for City to seal the title in front of their own fans at the Etihad Stadium on the final day. Should Liverpool avoid defeat on the south coast then the Blues will have the opportunity to do just that, but a final day meeting with Aston Villa will be no easy task.

With the 10th anniversary of Sergio Aguero's dramatic 2012 title winner falling last Friday, the title going down to the wire would be rather fitting. However, there's every chance that Southampton could do City a favour and save us a lot of stress and anxiety on Sunday.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side were a constant thorn in City's side this season, holding the Blues to two draws in the Premier League - although City did overcome them 4-1 in the FA Cup quarter-final. In both league games, Southampton's approach stifled City's build-up play and they created chances for themselves. Could they do similar against Liverpool?

City and Southampton played out a goalless draw at the Etihad back in September, a match characterised by City's inability to play out from the back with their usual ease. Early in the season City were building attacks with a two-three system - the two centre-backs with the full-backs tucking in alongside the holding midfielder.
