Sorba Thomas update emerges ahead of Huddersfield Town’s meeting with Barnsley

Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan has admitted that Sorba Thomas will miss tomorrow’s meeting with Barnsley due to injury.

The winger was substituted in the first-half of the Terriers’ clash with Middlesbrough on Monday after picking up a knee injury.

Before being replaced, Thomas played a key role in his side’s opening goal as his cross was diverted into the path of Naby Sarr who headed home from close range.

Having set up this goal, Jordan Rhodes effectively sealed victory for his side in the 60th minute by firing an effort past goalkeeper Luke Daniels.

Currently third in the Championship standings, Huddersfield have all-but secured a place in the play-offs already and will move to within a point of AFC Bournemouth on Friday if they beat the Tykes at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Barnsley will be relegated to League One if they fail to pick up a win in this fixture as they are 11 points adrift of safety with four games left to play.

Ahead of this fixture, Corberan has shared an update on Thomas.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (as cited by Yorkshire Live), Corberan said: “Sorba Thomas is seeing a knee specialist today.

“He is clearly not going to be involved on Friday, but we do not know exactly how long he will be out for right now.”

The Verdict

Huddersfield will be hoping for good news when Thomas meets a specialist today as the Wales international has played an influential role in the club’s push for a top-six finish this season.

As well as scoring three goals in the Championship, the 23-year-old has provided an impressive total of 12 assists for his team-mates in 43 league appearances.

With Thomas set to miss tomorrow’s clash with Barnsley, Corberan may opt to turn to Danel Sinani for inspiration.
