Dean Hoyle makes plea to Huddersfield Town supporters ahead of stern Luton Town challenge

Huddersfield Town chief executive Dean Hoyle has called on Terriers fans to get behind the players in any moments of adversity they encounter when taking on Luton Town in their play-off semi-final clashes.

Carlos Corberan’s side earned themselves a pair of dates with the Hatters by claiming a 2-0 win over Bristol City on the final day of the Championship season to go third in the final league table, helped by a late, late Hull City equaliser against Nottingham Forest.

That means that Forest will take on Sheffield United over two legs while Town will travel to Kenilworth Road for a 7:45pm kick off this Friday (13th May). Town’s second leg will be held at the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday 16th May, with the winner progressing to the Wembley final on Sunday 29th May.

Town 25% owner Hoyle is currently in the process of buying Phil Hodgkinson’s 75% share of the club back from him but has been running the club since November, and he told BBC Radio Leeds after the Bristol City game: “It’s going to be a tough game, isn’t it? Whoever we played was going to be a tough act: Sheffield United, Luton, Middlesbrough, Millwall, nothing was going to be easy.

“But I think the players in the team have showed today that they can do the business and we trust them to do it and what will be will be. But yeah, really pleased. We’re obviously not over-confident. It’s going to be a tough game and we respect our opponents, but I think we’ve got a good team here and fingers crossed that it goes well.

“I think the fans need to be at their loudest, their most vocal, when we’re facing adversity. It’s fantastic cheering the team when we’re doing well and we’re in front, but actually that’s not when they need it! They need it when we’re up
