Carlos Corberan issues Lewis O’Brien update ahead of Huddersfield Town’s clash with Bristol City

Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan has confirmed that Lewis O’Brien will not be available for selection for tomorrow’s meeting with Bristol City due to a hip injury.

Corberan is refusing to take any risks on O’Brien ahead of his side’s participation in the Championship play-offs later this month.

A stand-out performer for Huddersfield this season, the midfielder has made 43 appearances for the club in the second-tier whilst he has also featured in the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Having signed a contract extension last year which is set to keep him at the John Smith’s Stadium until 2025, O’Brien will be determined to help the Terriers move forward as a club in the not-too-distant future.

Huddersfield will finish third in the Championship standings if they beat the Robins on Saturday and Nottingham Forest slip up in their meeting with Hull City.

Given that the Terriers have managed to secure victory in four of their last five league games, they will unquestionably be confident in their ability to secure a positive result in tomorrow’s fixture.

Ahead of the club’s meeting with the Robins, Corberan has shared an injury update on O’Brien.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (as cited by Huddersfield’s official Twitter account) about the midfielder, Corberan said: “Lewis O’Brien will not be involved tomorrow because he has a problem in the hip.

“It’s not a big problem but we’ve decided not to play him this weekend.

“We want him available for the play-offs, but I can’t guarantee any situation.”
