Lewis O'Brien injury update emerges after Duane Holmes scare for Huddersfield Town

Carlos Corberan confirmed that Duane Holmes looks to have avoided any kind of injury after giving the John Smith’s Stadium crowd some cause for concern after slipping off the ball in the second half and requiring medical treatment.

Bristol City put the ball out of play so medical staff could attend to the versatile midfielder in the 63rd minute after Huddersfield Town had already used all three of their substitutions, but was able to get up and complete the game before joining the post-match celebrations with his family.

Asked about Holmes’ condition after the game, Corberan said: “He was feeling like he over-stretched during one of the actions but he did well to manage every minute of the game. He’s been fine and it’s positive not to lose any players to injury today.”

Corberan also gave an update on midfielder Lewis O’Brien, who is the only Town outfielder to play over 4,000 minutes this season but missed this game injured alongside fellow recent injury concerns Matty Pearson and Sorba Thomas.

The head coach said: “From the medical staff, he couldn’t play today. Corberan did however acknowledge that impending play-offs were behind his team selection to face Bristol City. The starting lineup featured six changes with Jamal Blackman and Carel Eiting getting their first league starts of the season while regular starters like Lee Nicholls and Tom Lees were on the bench.

Town also removed Jonathan Hogg from play at the break, with Harry Toffolo
