"Someone's told me" - Sky Sports reporter drops big claim as Tottenham "very keen" on 21 y/o ace

Tottenham Hotspur are ‘very keen’ on luring Anthony Gordon to Hotspur Way but have been asked to ‘cool their interest’ by Everton, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Spurs are preparing for a return to the Champions League after finishing last season in the Premier League’s top four, leading to Antonio Conte wanting to strengthen his squad.

According to the Sunday Mirror, via HITC, Spurs are eager to launch a new move for Gordon and want to use the deal which took Dele Alli to Everton to their advantage.

The report suggests the Toffees will owe the north Londoners £10million when Alli makes 20 appearances, but Tottenham are preparing to offer £20million for Gordon whilst writing off the pre-agreed £10million payment, essentially taking the deal up to £30million.

Spurs initially looked to sign Gordon in a double deal which also involved Richarlison, but it is understood that Everton made it clear they had no interest in entertaining such a proposal.

Instead, Conte’s side tied up a £60million deal which saw Richarlison head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week.

Everton are in a strong negotiating position and not in need of selling Gordon, who has been described as ‘fearless’ by former Premier League marksman Alan Shearer, as he still has three years remaining on his Goodison Park contract.

Bridge understands that Tottenham are admirers of Gordon, but warns Everton do not necessarily need to sanction his departure as the deal which took Richarlison to north London eased their Financial Fair Play fears.

The Sky Sports reporter has been made aware that the Toffees have advised Spurs not to accelerate their planned pursuit of the winger, who is valued at £18million by Transfermarkt.
