Ramsgate manager Ady Pennock knows entertaining football will keep boosting the crowds at Southwood

Ramsgate boss Ady Pennock wants the crowds to keep flocking to Southwood.

A season’s high of 1,607 watched their 3-2 defeat at home to Carshalton on Saturday.

While the result went the wrong way for the hosts, supporters have seen 20 goals in just five home Isthmian Premier games this season.

Ground improvements continue off the pitch and Pennock wants his team to keep entertaining on it.

“The crowd was absolutely brilliant,” said Pennock. “The chairman has done up the stadium, there’s new refreshment areas, they’ve extended the bar and put up a massive covering.

“It’s really good and to get more than 1,600 is also testament to the players.

“Obviously, we’ve been scoring lots of goals. The result wasn’t there on Saturday but we’ve been quite good at home.

“There were lots of families there and it’s such a good feeling around the club. I knew Ramsgate were a community club before and you get that feeling, 100 per cent.

“Win, lose or draw, they are right behind the boys and myself. They clapped the players off at the weekend, like all supporters they just want to see [their] team and players give 100 per cent and that’s what we do in every single game.

“We’ve got that quality as well and, to be fair, we've shown that we’re not a million miles away from being a very good side.

“We’ve had a few knocks and players away from the squad but now we’ve just got to get that consistency.

“The crowds won’t come if we’re not playing well, you know, but, like I say, we’ve been playing well home and away.

“Even on Saturday, they were disappointed we lost, obviously, but they were still clapping and singing because they saw what we put in.

“We’re going in the right direction and if we weren’t then I think the crowds would go in the other
