Smirking Simon Jordan takes Celtic pot shot as Joe Hart love in cut short by brutal Rangers reminder

Joe Hart's decision to retire has caught the attention of pundits across the globe - but Simon Jordan couldn't resist a smirking dig at Celtic as the number one prepares to bow out.

The goalkeeper will hang up his gloves at the end of the campaign, bowing out of the game with Brendan Rodgers' side after a career that has seen him earn 75 England caps and lifting silverware with Manchester City - as well as five trophies at Celtic Park including two Scottish Premiership titles. He will look to add another crown to his collection this term but Philippe Clement's Rangers are set to push the Hoops all the way.

But Arsenal legend Martin Keown lauded the career of the 36-year-old on talkSPORT as he praised him for bouncing back from being frozen out at City by Pep Guardiola. Speaking to host Jim White and former Crystal Palace owner Jordan, Keown said: "It's been seven or eight years since Pep went in there (Man City) and he was one of the first players to be taken out of that side. He carried on and fought his way back so you have to be impressed. You are a long time finished."

Jordan interjected: "Nobody has a career forever. He has played 170 games in the last eight years and economically there is probably no necessity, so he has decided it is time for the next stage of his career."

Keown conceded: "I am saying that in the second part if his career his standards fell below that level." Jordan clapped back: 'I think in his pomp at international level there were games that he didn't focus at key moments and that ultimately cost England at key opportunities. That should be thrown into the mix as well."
