Slobodan Rubezic put on blast for 'dangerous' Celtic challenge as Kyogo head injury sparks loaded pundit barb

Slobodan Rubezic has been hammered by the pundits after his challenge on Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi during Aberdeen's hammering at Parkhead.

Goals from Yang Hyun-jun, Kyogo, Luis Palma, David Turnbull and an Oh double sealed a miserable 6-0 loss for Barry Robson's men, with the Dons boss admitting he didn't see such a poor day coming. But a key talking point from the came has been a challenge made by Aberdeen defender Rubezic on Celtic's talisman, as he clattered into the back of his head in an aerial challenge at the start of the second half.

Kyogo was subbed and is claimed to have snubbed a handshake with his opponent, and Dons legend Willie Miller had no sympathy for him, and reckons it's something that happens often in his game. He told Sportsound: "Somebody needs to tell Slobodan Rubezic to calm down. It’s dangerous and out of control. It’s a common occurrence with him. He was never going to get the ball.”

Fellow pundit Packie Bonner was more blunt in his assessment, and reckons there was intent behind the challenge. The former Celtic goalkeeper added: "He’s gone with intent there, there’s no question. He’s gone in dangerously from well away from Kyogo, with pace and power. He was never going to get the ball.”

Rodgers said of Kyogo's condition post-match: "“He’ll not go away now with Japan. He needs to stay and recover for seven days. It looked a nasty one.”
