Sky Sports reporter says Leeds fans may face "emotional" summer after recent exit report

Marcelo Bielsa leaving Leeds United this summer would be an “emotional one” for fans, says Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The 66-year-old, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season, is under serious pressure right now after some horrendous results.

With there being no guarantees that Bielsa will be at Leeds next term, the Whites are reportedly looking at managers who could replace him.

According to The Telegraph, former RB Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch is the club’s first-choice to succeed Bielsa if he departs, while the Daily Mirror has claimed that the Argentine has already decided to leave should he make it to the end of the campaign.

The Telegraph also claims that ex-Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde and Carlos Corberan, who used to be a part of Bielsa’s coaching set-up, are also in contention, so Leeds look well prepared for a potential departure.

Bielsa has been at the Yorkshire club since 2018, helping them get back to the Premier League after winning promotion from the Championship in the 2019/20 season.

Ultimately, given the success Bielsa has had at Elland Road, Bridge believes the former Lille manager leaving this summer would be emotional for Leeds fans.

The Sky Sports journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “It’d be an emotional one for Leeds fans because he’s been like a god to them over the last few years.”

It is starting to look increasingly likely, though Bielsa has often been unwilling to discuss the topic of his future.

“It’s not a subject that we should talk about at this moment,” he recently told reporters (via The Athletic) when asked about the matter.
