Sky Sports reporter: 'Amazing' Spurs ace's future now in major doubt after development

Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that Japhet Tanganga may have played his last game for Spurs after he has recently been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Japhet Tanganga has not been a main feature in the Spurs side this season, he has featured just 11 times in the Premier League due to being out of favour and injury woes. He was linked to a move away from the Premier League in January when AC Milan wanted him, but a deal failed to go through.

Tanganga hasn’t featured since January and it was recently announced that the young defender will miss the remainder of the season after he will have to undergo surgery on his right knee.

With the news that Tanganga will miss the remainder of the season and links of a move away from Spurs in January, Michael Bridge spoke to GIVEMESPORT and said he may have played his last game for the club.

“Possibly. The only thing that could save him is his versatility and the fact he’s homegrown. Tottenham are edging on having to be a bit careful with homegrown players, although I know Tanganga didn’t exactly cover himself in glory in January,” Bridge said.

Japhet Tanganga made his Premier League debut in the 2019/20 campaign and since then has made just 23 appearances in the league for Spurs. He has not been in particularly good form in his stop-start season having achieved an average player rating of 6.65 over his last five Premier League games, which includes a 5.8 rating against Chelsea in his recent fixture, as per Sofascore.

However, the Englishman has shown his versatility this season for Spurs having played at right-back and centre back, which will go down as a tick in the eyes of Antonio Conte.
