Sir Jim Ratcliffe wealth compared to Premier League owners amid Manchester United links
Manchester United fans are unhappy with the Glazer Family's ownership of the club, but who has the funds available to buy the club if they put it up for sale? The fan favourite is Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the CEO of Ineos who was a supporter of the club when he was a child.
In 2018, the Sunday Times listed Ratcliffe as the richest man in Britain with a net worth of £21.05 billion, however as of 2022, Forbes has him listed as having a net worth of around £9.2 billion. But how would this compare to the other clubs in the Premier League?
Newcastle United top the charts after the takeover last season. According to Sky Sports, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund owns 80% of the club and are worth around £700 billion. Manchester City are second in the list, however, there is a big drop to their owner's reported net worth of £23 bn.

Ratcliffe would slot in next, followed by Aston Villa owner Nassef Sawiris with a net worth is £6.3 billion. Behind him is Wolverhampton Wanderers owner Guo Guangchang with £5.3bn and then new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly with a net worth of £4.8 bn, though he is part of a consortium.
Next would be Tottenham’s owner Joe Lewis who has a net worth of £4.35bn. Only then do we reach United's current owners, the Glazer family who have a net worth of £4.25bn.
It should also be noted that Ratcliffe already owns two other clubs, OCG Nice and FC Lausanne-Sport, meaning that he would not have to catch up with the number of other clubs who are already starting to make moves creating a network of sides across the globe, for example, The City Football Group.
Having an owner like Ratcliffe would move United up the table in terms of net worth,
