Sir Jim Ratcliffe Manchester United 'disruption' has changed Gary Neville stance

Manchester United icon Gary Neville has praised Sir Jim Ratcliffe for shaking things up so quickly at Old Trafford.

Investment from the INEOS founder was completed on Christmas Eve and the £1.25billion deal remains subject to Premier League ratification. However, with that process ongoing, the 71-year-old continues to make an immediate impact after stepping into the boardroom and assuming responsibility for footballing operations.

United have appointed Omar Berrada as their CEO - to replace Richard Arnold - after the former resigned from his role with treble-winning neighbours Manchester City. Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc will also represent INEOS Group on the United board and both men touch down at Old Trafford with their own expertise.

Speaking about ongoing changes for United on The Gary Neville podcast, Neville said: "It looks like Man United are making more sound decisions and are on the right track, and I think that can only be a positive. Sir Jim Ratcliffe was not going to come in and not disrupt things, but disruption has started pretty quickly.

"It was obvious. They hadn't got a CEO because Richard Arnold stepped down.

"They also haven't got a sporting director and they haven't got a notable head of recruitment. Those are three roles where owners are most exposed, with the money that gets spent on players, the revenues that get driven.

"It's part of what I would imagine is a triangle of appointments to see in the next few months."
