'Thank you M.E.N. readers - your generosity is nothing short of mind-blowing'

Food bank charity Humans MCR has thanked Manchester Evening News readers for their incredible generosity after donations to our Christmas appeal passed the £5,000 mark - with the total now topping £13,844.

The M.E.N.worked with the organisation on the 'Nobody Hungry at Christmas' project in December. It is aimed at tackling food poverty across Greater Manchester this winter.

Many struggling families across the region go into winter filled with worry amid the cost of living crisis. The campaign helps these families in need by delivering nutritious goods right to their doorstep and providing several services to those struggling.

Lewey Hellewell, founder of Humans MCR, said: "I want to express my deep gratitude to each and every Manchester Evening News reader who contributed to the Christmas charity fundraiser. Their generosity - a whopping £6922 - is nothing short of mind-blowing.

"The impact of this kindness will be felt by hundreds of people in communities across Greater Manchester as we continue to support people facing the cost of living crisis, increased energy costs and the harsh winter months."

Humans MCR is a food poverty charity providing meals and essential nutritious food across our region. The team works hard to ensure every person using their service is treated with dignity and respect. They are based in Blackley, North Manchester, but work with families and individuals in need across Manchester, Salford, Rochdale, Stockport, Trafford and Bury.

Lewey added: "This is a particularly difficult time of year for many, including those working full time and it means the world to us to have the funds available to be able to lighten the load.
