Sir Jim Ratcliffe net worth as £3.2bn assets confirmed in boost for Manchester United plans

The worth of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's liquid assets has been confirmed.

On Christmas Eve, Manchester United announced that the 71-year-old reached an agreement with the Glazer Family to acquire a 25 per cent stake in the club, subject to Premier League ratification. In an official statement, Ratcliffe vowed to 'provide funds intended to enable future investment into Old Trafford'.

The INEOS chairman also insisted that he aims to take United back to the 'the very top of English, European and world football'. In order to fulfil such ambitious plans, Ratcliffe will have to fork out millions, upon millions of great British pounds to fund a seismic rebuild – on and off the pitch.

Luckily for United supporters, the British billionaire isn't short of cash – and he seems prepared to spend it too ahead of what could be a pivotal next couple of months. As filed on the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission, a Manchester United plc tender offer statement was uploaded on February 12, 2024, detailing Ratcliffe's deal.

An extract from a letter to shareholders reads: "As of February 12, 2024, James A. Ratcliffe’s liquid assets (primarily consisting of cash and readily marketable securities) were in excess of $4 billion (£3.2bn)."

"James A. Ratcliffe’s net worth is significantly in excess of those liquid assets, primarily consists of his ownership in the INEOS Group and not subject to material guarantees or contingencies that would adversely affect his net worth." Forbes estimates Ratcliffe's overall net worth to be $20.2n
