Sir Dave Brailsford offers 12-word response to Kylian Mbappe Manchester United transfer question

INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford offered a simple response to expectant Manchester United fans who issued a Kylian Mbappe transfer demand.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar is out of contract in the summer, and on Thursday it was revealed that he had communicated his decision to leave the club

The 59-year-old posed with United fans as he left Old Trafford this week, following approval from the Football Association (FA) and the Premier League as they await official confirmation. However, when one fan asked him to sign the World Cup winner, Brailsford laughed off the possibility.

"I think he's got his heart set on going to Real Madrid," he replied.

Real Madrid have had a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old, with Liverpool also tentatively linked in the past and United also said to be in the conversation. However, after several years of pursuing interest, the Spanish giants now have the green light to pursue his signature.

Previously, PSG had rejected a £188m bid from Real Madrid in August 2021 before Mbappe opted to sign a three-year deal in Paris. Reports suggest that a move to La Liga for the Frenchman would make him the highest-paid player in their history, joining the new-look Galacticos in the Spanish capital with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.

This week, Ineos have made greater strides in strengthening their footballing hierarchy. Newcastle United supremo Dan Ashworth has been highlighted as their inaugural sporting director, while Southampton director of football Jason Wilcox is admired.
