Sir Alex Ferguson was gobsmacked by what Man Utd wonderkid did after his debut

Former Manchester United prospect Ravel Morrison once pleasantly surprised Sir Alex Ferguson with a heart-warming letter following his senor debut.

The Jamaica international, 31, was once projected to become one of football's greats. His journey began auspiciously after being scouted by the Red Devils, but what appeared to be a promising career trajectory took an unfortunate turn.

Plagued by issues away from the pitch, Morrison's tenure at Old Trafford was cut short, and he was eventually sent to West Ham in 2012. More than a decade and 13 clubs later, The Mirror reported he now finds himself at his 14th professional club having signed with Precision FC, a third-tier outfit in the United Arab Emirates.

Ferguson, 82, has since pondered what might have been for Morrison and once confided in ex-United defender Rio Ferdinand about a particular act of kindness that left him dumbfounded. During a 2021 appearance on Ferdinand's Vibe with FIVE podcast, Sir Alex's comments reflected Morrison's inherent talent but also his more sensitive side.

"My first and lasting memory of Ravel as a young lad was that he [always] got time and space," said Ferguson. "He's always available to be on the ball, so unusual for a young lad of his age.

"Another thing about Ravel, which I've always treasured because no other young player who made their debut did it, was after the first game in the first team that he played, the next morning he came to my office and gave me a letter thanking me for giving me his debut.
