Why Sir Alex Ferguson was not at Manchester United vs Brentford following Ineos decision
Sir Alex Ferguson was not at Old Trafford to see Manchester United take on Brentford on Saturday because he attended Aberdeen's clash with Celtic.
It was confirmed this week that the legendary former United manager would be stepping down from his role as a club ambassador.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has overseen cost-cutting measures since his minority investment was confirmed eight months ago. 250 staff have been made redundant.
Ferguson took on an ambassadorial role after he retired as United manager in 2013. He earned £2.165million during his first eight months in the role.

Ferguson was present for a meeting at Old Trafford earlier this week and is understood to have been informed of the decision in person. Time-consuming responsibilities were also cited behind the end of Ferguson's ambassadorial stint.
Club sources confirmed the decision was entirely amicable and that Ferguson will always be welcome at Old Trafford.
