Mikey Johnston explains why Celtic potential has been unlocked at West Brom in loaded 3 point checklist

Delighted Mikey Johnston reckons that he is in the same situation at West Brom as he was at Celtic - but a run in the team has been the major difference maker.

The winger left the Scottish Premiership behind for the English Championship in the final hours of the January window with Brendan Rodgers boasting a host of attacking options in wide areas following the arrival of £3million man Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna. James Forrest, Luis Palma, Yang and Daizen Maeda left Johnston with limited options with Liel Abada also in the building at the time.

Johnston and fellow attacker Marco Tilio were moved out on loan - and Ireland cap Johnston has shown his best form south of the border having been on the Parkhead fringes. He has netted five goals for the Baggies to fire his new side firmly into the race for promotion as they push for a play-off spot.

And the 24-year-old has now listed the reasons he reckons that his best form has been unlocked at the Hawthorns - naming game time as a key factor. He told Birmingham Live : "It's the same situation there but in a different place, and luckily in a different way for me. It feels more like it's my position to lose here and I just need to keep performing every week but it's always good to have competition for places.

"We've got guys with quality coming back, experienced lads too like Matty Phillips and we'll need to lean on lads like that towards the end of the season. It just feels like I needed a run of games to play in my position and have some trust from my teammates and the manager.
