Shocking: LCFC fans will be fuming with footage of big incident ignored by VAR - opinion

Leicester City fans will be furious to see this match footage emerge of a handball that was ignored by VAR yesterday.

Brendan Rodgers rested a load of Leicester City players for their trip to Tottenham Hotspur as they keep one eye firmly fixed on their Europa Conference League semi-final against Roma on Thursday, but having now only won once in their last six league games, their defeat will have done little to boost the Foxes’ confidence.

In the end, Leicester were comfortably beaten by Spurs, with the visitors ending the game with an xG total of just 0.4 after just one shot on target in the entire game, but they could well have bumped those stats up had the VAR intervened and awarded them a penalty.

Footage showed (21:30) Son Heung-min controlling the ball with his hand and thus taking it away from Ayoze Perez in the box, with nothing being given by either Jonathan Moss or the VAR team. With the score then at 0-0, it could’ve completely altered the outcome of the match.

TIF Thoughts on this decision…

From the footage, it looks very clear that Son moved his arm into the path of the ball and took it away from Perez, so it really does remain to be seen why neither the referee nor the VAR officials thought a spot-kick should have been awarded.

The fact that the reams were level at the time of the incident with the game finely poised will likely be what angers Leicester fans the most, as they could have very much done with a confidence boost heading into the clash on Thursday in Rome.
