Shirley Ballas sparks concern with health news ahead of 'phenomenal' first Strictly Come Dancing live show
Shirley Ballas appears to have sparked concern as she filmed herself in bed having been struck down by a bug. The Strictly Come Dancing judge had just jetted back from Rome where she had been preparing for an upcoming dance competition when she became ill.
Shirley took to her Instagram Stories with a video of herself talking directly to the camera from her bed, where she could be seen snuggled up while fighting to get better ready for the first Strictly 20223 live show this Saturday (September 23).
"What a difference a day makes," the 63-year-old started by saying. Sounding a little croaky, she went on to explain: "So, back from Rome where it was busy. Lots of people. And then in the studio because we’re running up to the Royal Albert Hall International Championships and yes, I think I’ve caught something."

"So not very well today," Shirley continued before vowing to be back on form and behind the judge's desk this weekend. She added: "Not at work but want to rest and make sure I’m ready for Strictly on Saturday."
But it appears Shirley was trying to spend her unexpected downtime wisely. "But whilst I’m lying here I’m thinking to myself: ‘What’s the best air fryer to get?" she said. "So anybody out there that can help me with the best air fryer… Some dear suggested that my mum and I wouldn’t burn our bacon and our roasties as often if we had an air fryer. So help me out."
