Sharks mentor Everitt praises character after Dragons win: 'We're a happy group'

Sharks coach Sean Everitt credited his charges for their brave showing after they beat the Dragons 20-19 in their United Rugby Championship clash on Saturday. 

The one-point win was the Sharks' second win on the bounce in Europe, but it was another close shave for Everitt's charges.

While the Sharks' playing methodology again comes under scrutiny, Everitt was more than happy with how his charges got through their Welsh challenge

"I'm very happy with the result and the character that the guys showed," Everitt said.

"The discipline that we showed when we were under the pump was very good and I thought that in the end, the win was deserved.

"The first half was disappointing for us and we couldn't get our attack flowing and they disrupted our breakdown."

Everitt credited key turning moments from scrumhalf Grant Williams and loose-forward Sikhumbuzo Notshe as the Sharks found a way to win a game they didn't have business doing so.

Everitt also credited the bench, a department that fell apart in last week's close win against Zebre where the bench watched on helplessly as the hosts roared back into the game.

Everitt said the match result made them a very happy group.

"Grant Williams' intercept was a game changer and I think it gave the guys a lot of belief," Everitt said.

"Also, credit needs to be given to the substitutes that came on because they also helped change the game.

"Notshe set up the try for us and that allowed us to go ahead in the game. We're a very happy group."
