Dragons 32-25 Ospreys: Wales call-up Rio Dyer shines as Dragons win frantic derby
Two tries from new Wales call-up Rio Dyer handed the Dragons victory in a chaotic and entertaining derby against the Ospreys at Rodney Parade.
With each side losing two players to yellow cards throughout the 80 minutes, the clash was often frantic and unpredictable - with Dyer's late interception proving the difference.
It took just 37 seconds for the Ospreys to take the lead. George North's best half of rugby since his return from injury began with one of the easiest run-ins he'll ever have, racing over after Jack Walsh' initial break to open the scoring.
Walsh extended the lead after 15 minutes from the tee, with the moment being soured a little by the departure of Wales international Dewi Lake through injury. The powerful hooker left holding his arm close to his torso - an image that will concern Toby Booth and Wayne Pivac in equal measure.
From there, the Dragons - who perhaps had shaded territory despite making no impact on the scoreboard - managed to get back into proceedings. JJ Hanrahan's penalty was an almost instant reply to Walsh's.
Then, minutes later, Steff Hughes cut through the Ospreys line to leave the away side scrambling. Despite being dragged down just short of the line, the Dragons held their nerve and worked the ball to the left for Aaron Wainwright to force his way over.
The Ospreys would extend their lead shortly after, with Lake's replacement Scott Baldwin being at the back of a driving maul to score just before the half-hour mark.
However, a crazy couple of minutes before the break would see the Ospreys reduced to 15 and the Dragons pull level on the scoreboard.
Morgan Morris was the first to head to the sin-bin for cynical play. That handed the Dragons an attacking lineout, which they drove over
