Rangers to be 'offered' use of Hampden as SFA set to come to rescue over temporary Ibrox eviction

The SFA are reportedly willing to offer Rangers the use of Hampden to ease their scheduling headache - with one report claiming the pitch at the National Stadium WON'T be a problem.

The Ibrox side announced on Thursday they are looking at alternative options with their home ground now likely to be out of action for the first month of the 2024/25 season due to improvement works on the Copland Road stand being behind schedule. That's sparked an almighty headache and an SFA spokesperson said soon after that they'd be willing to get around the table to help them come to a solution.

Playing at Hampden appeared to be the obvious choice but reports emerged soon after suggesting that the National Stadium would be out of commission due to pitch works. But the Daily Mail are now claiming that won't be a problem - and that Hampden IS a live option for Rangers. That's because, although the Hampden pitch is due to be relayed after Pink plays there on June 28 and 29, it will be back up and running in time for the start of next season.

And they say the SFA are 'willing' to offer the use of it to the Ibrox club temporarily. That would be a welcome solution for Philippe Clement's preparations however it comes with the caveat that it would need to dovetail with Queen's Park's schedule, with the Hampden natives back playing at their long-term home for the time being.

It's said no discussions have been held over a short-term lease but the governing body are open to talks. Murrayfield is also a possible option with Rangers due to face Manchester United there on July 20, but Scottish Rugby are yet to comment on whether that could become a longer-term arrangement.
