Servette crank up Rangers Champions League mind games as boss adamant pressure is ONLY on Michael Beale's men

Servette boss Rene Weiler has told Rangers the Champions League pressure is all on them as he insisted a win will merely be a bonus for his history-making Swiss outfit.

The Geneva side have already guaranteed themselves a Europa League group stage slot with their victory over Genk. It’s a remarkable achievement for a club that only returned to Switzerland’s top flight four seasons ago following a double bankruptcy disaster. However, there’s a bigger prize up for grabs as they host Gers tonight, with a place among the European elite in Uefa’s top tournament on offer if they turn around last week’s 2-1 Ibrox defeat.

But Weiler shrugged off pressure talk as he declared it’s Michael Beale’s side who will be feeling the heat to progress to the Champions League play-offs. The Geneva gaffer - who is set to welcome back three of his main men after being without them in Glasgow - said: “History was made during the game against Genk.

"Now we are qualified for group phase of the Europa League. That was the big challenge. We did the job there, so we don’t have the pressure. Now it’s just bonus. The pressure is on Rangers’ side.”
