'Serious incident' closes Market Street, Westhoughton - latest updates

A "serious incident" has closed Market Street in Westhoughton. MancTraffic tweeted at 2.28am today: "Market St, Westhoughton, is closed from Church St to King St. Emergency services on scene."

It is not known at this stage whether anyone was injured in the incident. The exact nature of the event is not known either but at 2.59am MancTraffic updated: "Market St, Westhoughton, serious incident UPDATE: A cordon is in place from Church St to Queen St. Likely to be shut for a while."
