Serious crash on A4093 near Porth causes long diversions with drivers told to avoid area

A serious crash has closed the main road through Hendreforgan near Porth in Rhondda Cynon Taff with drivers warned to avoid the area. The A4093 is closed in both directions closed due to the crash between the B4278 and Ffoddllanbad.

South Wales Police has confirmed that the force is on the scene and say the road is expected to be closed for some time. In a statement on social media they said: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A4093, Gilfach Goch, near to Heol Y Mynydd.

"The road is currently closed in both directions between the junction for the A4564 and the roundabout joining the B4278 It is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area."

Stagecoach buses has confirmed their services are being diverted as a result of the crash. They said that all service 172 journeys are diverting between Tonyrefail and Bridgend via the M4 until further notice and their 150 and 152 services will terminate at Mountain View, Tonyrefail, until the road re-opens.
