Scott McTominay delivered Man Utd transfer message by Erik ten Hag as Tottenham and Fulham eye deal

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag insists he’s in no rush to sell Scotland star Scott McTominay.

The Old Trafford midfielder is a key man for Steve Clarke’s national team but has drifted in and out of the United line-up in recent months. That’s sparked speculation the 27-year-old could be allowed to move on this summer. Fulham have already failed with an opening bid of £40million while London rivals Tottenham are rumoured to be weighing up a move themselves.

But ten Hag is adamant he does not want to lose the versatile midfield man. He said: “We have very good players so there will always be an interest from other clubs. Scott scored 10 goals last season and also performed very well for Scotland, so there will be an interest.

"But we want to keep him because he is a very important player for our squad. He can contribute as we saw last season. He can play in a more advanced role and he is a highly interesting player for our team.”

Ten Hag was addressing questions after watching a youthful United side sweep past Rangers with a 2-0 win at Murrayfield on Saturday. The Premier League giants took the lead when former Gers loan flop Amad Diallo curled a clinical low finish past former Red Devils back-up keeper Jack Butland.

Diallo is best remembered in Glasgow for being hooked just 45 minutes into his Old Firm debut as Gio van Bronckhorst’s side were floored 3-0 at Parkhead back in February 2022. But the Ivory Coast international has come a long way since his six-month Ibrox stint and ten Hag has big plans for him in the season to come.
