Sunday sport: Shane Lowry in the mix at Open, Munster rivals head to Croke Park

Shane Lowry is right in the mix ahead of the final round of The Open Championship.

The Offaly native carded a six-over-par 77 on a difficult day yesterday at Royal Troon, to sit three shots off the lead on one-under-par. He tees off at 1.45pm.

American Billy Horschel sets off as leader on 4-under.

Padraig Harrington will begin on three-over, with Tom McKibbin on nine-over.

Darren Clarke will be back out on course this morning, teeing off on 11-over.

The Liam McCarthy Cup could be heading to Cork or Clare this evening. The Munster rivals do battle in the All-Ireland Hurling Championship at Croke Park.

The Rebels are hoping for a first win in 19 years, while the Banner aim to end an 11-year famine. Throw-in at HQ is at 3.30.

Tickets for this weekend's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final in Croke Park have been described as "gold dust".

Some 15,000 tickets for a Rebel fanzone in Cork's Pairc Uí Chaoimh sold out in 45 minutes - while the Big Screen at the Fair Green in Ennis is also set to be packed.

St Pat's begin their defence of the FAI Cup this evening. Stephen Kenny returns to the Ryan McBride Brandywell, as the Saints face a second-round tie with an out-of-sorts Derry City.

Shelbourne are in the Carlisle Grounds for a meeting with Bray.

Sligo Rovers welcome Cobh Wanderers to the Showgrounds.

Wexford travel to Wayside Celtic, while Gorey Rangers entertain UCD,

And Ballyfermot United are at home to Leeds.

Meanwhile, the Republic of Ireland round off their European Women's under-19 Championship group campaign this afternoon.

Dave Connell's side need to beat the Netherlands by two goals to have any chance of making the semi-finals.
