Scott Brown takes swipe at Rangers over 'big gap' and Celtic derby ticket row

Celtic legend Scott Brown has taunted Rangers over the "big gap" at the top as he also took a swipe at his former foes over the ongoing derby ticket allocation row.

During his playing days for the Hoops and Aberdeen, Brown loved nothing more than to wind up the Light Blues players, staff and fans. And now he has stepped into the world of punditry after leaving Fleetwood Town it appears no different as he took aim at Rangers - claiming Celtic fans are only banned from Ibrox because his Hoops side kept winning there.

And Brown gushed over the "gap" between Brendan Rodgers' side and their city rivals following the 2-1 win in their last Glasgow showdown at Parkhead last month. Speaking about the narrow 2-1 win at the end of December for the Hoops, Brown said: "Celtic have got a strong squad and as you saw the gap when they played just the other day there it was quite big. The way the Celtic front three pressed, the quality they have got – I think that is the difference."

Away fans remain locked out on derby day due to the Scottish Premiership giants still being at odds over ticket allocations for the biggest fixture in the top flight - with the latest round of sparring between the giants coming over safety concerns with Rangers taking their case to the SPFL. However, the Parkhead chiefs stood firm and Philippe Clement travelled to Celtic Park for the first time with no Rangers supporters behind him last month.

And while Brown reckons fans should be allowed inside the opposing cauldron, he put the blame on the Ibrox side for issuing the banning order to Celtic diehards first, saying: "The Rangers and Celtic games, it's always hard because there is no fans now. It's always hard for them when they go away from home.
