Scott Brown drops Celtic quip over Aiden McGeady reunion at Ayr as new boss ready to use contact book

Scott Brown hopes he can tap into his contacts and land a few favours as he looks to bring some fresh faces to Ayr United before the transfer deadline.

The legendary Celtic skipper has scored his second gig in management after taking over the top job at Somerset Park. He has been joined by Steven Whittaker at the Scottish Championship club as he outlined his short-term aims after being unveiled as Lee Bullen's successor. He's picked up vital experience as a No1 at Fleetwood Town and he is aiming to build on the momentum picked up in the last three games for his new club.

They picked up a vital three points in a bottom of the table clash against Arbroath last night and head to Hampden to face Queen's Park this weekend in what will be Brown's first official game in charge. He also has a small matter of facing Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup in just a couple of weeks time in what will be a whirlwind start to life in Ayrshire.

He is joined by a familiar face in Aiden McGeady and even joked his pal will NOT be calling him Broony, when asked if he will be addressing him as gaffer from now on. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I think short-term we focus game to game. That is the main thing for us.

"We need to start getting results and start pushing up the league. We are five points clear of bottom of the league which is great after the result, but we are also only four points off fourth place.

"The league is tight and it is one of those leagues you can go on a run for two or three games and be in those play-offs. You lose two or three you are in a relegation battle. For us we need to be aiming high. The lads should be in a positive position in this moment in time after the last three games and we just need to build on
