Scott Brown could be Rangers trophy barrier once more as Celtic legend 'approached' by Ayr United
Ayr United have made a move to make Scott Brown their next manager, it's been claimed.
The Honest Men pulled the trigger on Lee Bullen amid a faltering Championship campaign and are on the hunt for a new gaffer. Brown has not hid his ambition to be a leading man again after being sacked by Fleetwood Town earlier this season, and was briefly mentioned with the vacant Queen's Park job before Callum Davidson took charge.
Now another Scottish second tier chance could appear as the Daily Mail claim Ayr "have made an ambitious move" to make the Celtic icon their next boss. That could set up a tantalising Scottish Cup baptism of fire for the former midfielder, with the Somerset Park side pulling out Rangers at Ibrox. Brown guided Fleetwood to a club-record FA Cup run last season but would be heavily up against it if he got the chance to take on Philippe Clement's men.
More pressing matters will concern their Championship season. Ayr are in the relegation play-off spot but also seven points off the promotion play-offs they competed in last term.
