Scott Brown speaks out after Celtic and Brendan Rodgers revelations as he issues emotional statement

Scott Brown has released an emotional statement thanking Aberdeen as he provided an update on his next steps.

The 36-year-old called time on his stint at Pittodrie and looks set to hang up his boots at the end of an illustrious career.

Jim Goodwin's arrival as Glass' replacement brought an end to Brown's player-coach role and it was mutually agreed he would move on.

Record Sport revealed earlier this week that Brendan Rodgers is set to hand his former Celtic captain a chance to gain experience at Leicester City, while Ange Postecoglou has insisted the door will always be open to him at Parkhead.

Brown revealed he will take time to consider his next move but wants to enjoy some downtime with his family - and on the golf course.

He wrote on Instagram: "Hi all... Last season, I was given the opportunity by Stephen and the board at Aberdeen Football Club to take the next step in my football career- continuing to play the game that I love whilst gaining hands-on coaching experience.
