Shotts facing "nightmare" repair bill after damage done to Hannah Park home

Shotts boss John McKeown admits the club are facing a “nightmare” repair bill running into the thousands after burst pipes caused significant damage to their Hannah Park home last week.

Sub zero temperatures and the subsequent quick thaw that followed has seen the changing rooms, hospitality area and social club suffer significant damage, and the club will be working round the clock this week to try and have things back up and running for Saturday’s visit from Renfrew.

McKeown explained: “Shotts has been crippled by burst pipes over the last week and it has affected us in the pavilion and the social club, so that has set the club back massively, financially.

“The club is in a bit of a mess at the moment, as we’ve not been getting income in recent weeks with all the postponements, and now this has happened.

“It is just one blow after the other for the club and this is a bit of a nightmare.

“It is quite significant damage. It is thousands of pounds we are talking about, unfortunately.

“The pavilion is flooded at the snack area and the hospitality area as well. The changing rooms are badly damaged and it is the same story over at the social club as well.

“I think it went from minus nine to nine degrees very quickly, so there is a bit of work to be done.

“We’ve had a chat about it with everybody and the message is to stick together and keep focused.

“Hopefully we will have dried things up by Saturday. I know the committee guys will be working around the clock to sort things, that’s the kind of committee we have. They work their socks off with limited resources.

“But I think we could do with the local community to help out a wee bit in terms of fundraising. We’ve got a loyalty club scheme set up so it would be an ideal chance
