Scotland women's team and SFA strike equal pay deal as legal dispute withdrawn at final hour

The Scottish Football Association have agreed to an equal pay and conditions deal across their men’s and women’s national teams.

The women’s team had started the process of legal action as they sought parity with their male counterparts from sponsorship and commercial deals. They also wanted to be on a par to Steve Clarke’s side when it came to training facilities, hotels, travel, kit and medical resources The SFA have now struck an agreement across the board.

Delighted Scotland Women’s captain Rachel Corsie said: “I am glad that we have been able to find a resolution, avoiding the need for a tribunal. The legal route is one that nobody wanted to undertake but positive discussions have taken place during the intervening period with mutual respect, understanding and cooperation. As captain, I believe we have a responsibility to push for the highest standards on and off the field.

“The Scottish FA has made significant inroads in this regard and together we are on an evolutionary journey. We are proud to have parity, not just for the current generation but more significantly for future generations of players.
